BR-319 infrastructure and access

Infrastructure and access

The modules were installed at intervals of 40 to 60 km. Each module has two trails of 5 km each, 1 km apart. The trails closest to Manaus are the trails "norte" (TN) and the ones closest to Humaitá "sul" (TS). On each trail, RAPELD standard land parcels were installed every kilometer. In each location, 1 module with 2 tracks (for details see the modules) is implemented 1 km apart.
* see exception for the km 83 module in the metadata of this module.

Research camps were built in 11 of the research modules, following the pattern shown in the sketch below. Each of these camps has the capacity to house 20 researchers simultaneously.

Currently, the BR-319 is passable, most of the road is made of dirt, but in recent years maintenance has been carried out which has made possible a "better" walk in the area. However, it is important to consider the season when deciding to take the BR-319, as some areas of the road are accessible only during the dry season and not throughout the year. Even when these areas are accessible, travel time to some points can be difficult. In addition, almost all areas of study remain flooded, for different reasons, for several months in the year. These areas can only be sampled completely in a window of 3 to 4 months, which occurs in most cases in the dry season. For more information, contact: Gerencia.ppbio@gmail.com.
