**1. INTRODUCTION**
The Regional Nuclei of PPBio aim to carry out actions in a decentralized and autonomous manner, as defined in conjunction with the Executive Nuclei. They identify priority areas for inventory projects and the implementation of Standardized Collection Sites, elaborate the local diagnosis of needs in the region regarding biodiversity studies and utilization, in order to promote the effectiveness of regional human resources utilization, and contribute to identifying possibilities for cooperation with other institutions. The Regional Nuclei (NRs) form the foundation of the Program and provide future prospects for local development by utilizing the scientific potential already established in the unit and increasing the possibilities of training regional populations and traditional peoples in those locations. One of the most recent nuclei initiated was in Humaitá. The suggestion of this Amazonian municipality as a possible regional nucleus came from Professor Fabrício Berton Zanchi (UFAM), who conducts studies in the region through the Large-scale Biosphere-Atmosphere Program in the Amazon (LBA). The activities for creating the nucleus began with the visit of the PPBio coordinator, Dr. William Magnusson, and the scholars from the Science and Technology Management Program - PGCT of FAPEAM, Dayane Mayely Silva de Oliveira, Maria Aparecida de Freitas, and Ricardo Laerte Romero, to the municipality of Humaitá from September 19 to 22.

**1.1 Objectives of the visit**
The visit to Humaitá had the main objective of consolidating the implementation of the Regional Nucleus (NR) of Humaitá. Specific objectives included:
- Presenting the Biodiversity Research Program to key institutions in the Humaitá regions.
- Identifying potential partners for the Humaitá nucleus.
- Visiting participating institutions.
- Understanding the work already carried out in the region.
- Checking if the visited institution has an interest in participating in the nucleus.
- Emphasizing the importance of the participation of institution managers in integrated projects and resource optimization.
- Clarifying the independence of the regional nuclei.
- Providing tools such as the PPBio website for generating and storing information.
- Identifying the demands and expectations of each institution regarding its participation in the program.
- Visiting potential installation sites for the first modules.

**2. ACTIVITIES DEVELOPED**
From September 19 to 22, meetings were held in Humaitá, including program presentations, individual meetings with each institution to identify available resources and expectations, visits to the suggested area for opening modules, and the Realidade community (BR-319 – Km 580 approximately). Initially, Dr. William Magnusson, the coordinator of PPBio, gave a presentation on the general aspects, objectives, and results obtained by PPBio at the UFAM auditorium. Representatives from institutions such as UFAM, FUNAI, IBAMA, ICMBio, INCRA, the Department of Environment and Tourism (SEMATUR), Amazon Pact Institute (IPA), and International Institute of Amazon Education (IIEB) were present. This meeting also allowed the identification of the person responsible for coordinating the Humaitá Nucleus: Professor Marcelo Rodrigues dos Anjos (UFAM). Subsequent meetings were held in each institution identified as a potential PPBio partner, including institutions present in the initial presentation and some that were invited but could not attend on the scheduled date. The information gathered in these meetings is presented in Section 3. During this period, visits were also made to the Realidade settlement and the suggested areas for opening modules in the region to evaluate their characteristics. The specification of these areas and motivation for their use are presented in Section 4.
