Prazeres da Mesa Magazine interview CENBAM Researcher that talks about the challenges in the cultivation of edible mushrooms in the Amazon.

        Prazeres da Mesa magazine, one of the most prestigious cooking magazines in the country, interviewed in its issue of December 2015 Dr. Noemia Kazue Ishikawa, researcher at INPA / CENBAM. In 2014, she introduced along with the chef Philip Schaedler, owner of Banzeiro restaurant, edible mushroom Lentinula raphanica in Table Event Trends: International Gastronomy Congress. In the report, Philip reports that even being sure to access the mushrooms through their cultivation in the Aruanã Farm in Itacoatiara, they are still considered rare in their restaurant, since the entire cultivation process lasts about eight months. However, L. raphanica stands on the menu for its flavor and texture. Facilitate the potential use of Amazon biodiversity of species is one of the INCT-CENBAM goals and this is one of the results with native species of Amazonian mushroom developed by the team of Dr. Noemia the end of the first phase of the project. Noemia says that the partnership with the gastronomic sector by Chef Philip Schaedler and the Scientific Technical Agreement with Aruanã Farm, owned by Mr. Sergio Vergueiro, were fundamental for the first production of mushrooms of the species L. raphanica.
