The proposal of the book Aves do Acre, by Dr. Edson Guilherme, was to group in a single volume all the information obtained on the birds of Acre.
The final result is a complete catalog of the State avifauna, which includes detailed information on the distribution, ecological preferences, general habits and even taxonomy of species and subspecies of occurrence in Acre. The work is so comprehensive that it serves as an unparalleled database for future studies on Acre's avifauna, numbering more than 700 species. Thus, Edson Guilherme makes a unique contribution to the Brazilian avifauna and reverses a perverse logic that condemns the Northern Region in general and the state of Acre in particular, to be little known about its Biodiversity. Certainly this book will be useful for Academy, Conservation Area Managers, public agencies at all levels, and the community at large. The information may be used to compile technical reports, thematic documents, as well as know the degree of knowledge about birds in a particular area of interest within the State and encourage birdwatchers to better understand the region's biodiversity.
